Murdered by the Millennium Cast & Crew

WELCOME AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!

Who’s ready to get a little stabby?

Our annual “Murdered By” series is one of the most popular of the season – we have sold out (or come close to it) for the last few years and audiences love them!

The way they work is that the audience votes at intermission for who the killer is, who survives, and how everyone else “dies.”  Then we change the second act based on those votes.

This year’s show is a “Friends” parody and features music from the 1990s.  Everything you need to know is on this page so read it carefully before submitting for a cast or crew position.

This will be a demanding show requiring a lot of time, energy, and talent so we hope you’re up for the challenge!

SAVANNAH CABARET GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • We will always strive to create a positive, friendly, supportive, and fun environment.
    • We are not getting rich, going to Broadway, or winning any awards for these shows so if we can’t have fun, why are we doing it?
  • We adhere to a strict “no assholes” policy.
    • The only drama we want is the one we’re putting on the stage.
  • We will always be on time for rehearsal, meetings, and shows.
    • Being late is not only detrimental to the production, it’s inconsiderate of your fellow cast members and crew who did what they needed to do to be on time.
  • We will always come prepared.
    • The small amount of time we have to rehearse together must be supplemented by your own work on your own time working on your lines, lyrics, songs, and characters.
  • We will pitch in to help wherever it is needed.
    • Everyone does everything including promoting the show since the more butts in seats, the more most cast and crew gets paid.

SCRIPT

As always, the script may change as we go.  And as always, it is not sacrosanct.  If you can think of something funnier, dumber, or better, I’m totally open to hearing what you’ve got.

MUSIC

IMPORTANT!  READ THIS!  If you are interested in being in the show, be sure you can sing the songs that have been assigned to each character.  The key on tracks that do not have a lot of backing vocals can be adjusted, but those that depend on backing vocals can’t be adjusted.  If you can find a track in your key, we can use it but otherwise you should choose a different character.

Below are the edited guide vocals for most of the songs.  NOTE: All single songs have been edited down to between 2-3 minutes.  Mashups and megamixes are longer.  Commercials and the Act 2 opening number, “My Heart Won’t Go On” are not included here.  Instrumental versions will be available by the time casting is complete.

ROLES, REQUIREMENTS, SALARY

All roles will be paid a minimum of $75 per performance (total of $300 for 4 performances) and are eligible to participate in the bonus pool.

Note: Scream by Michael & Janet Jackson is the Killer/Survivor song and everyone will have to learn the entire thing (both parts).  Whether you sing it or not will depend on the audience vote.

All roles are open to all genders, races, ages, and types, however being able to sing the songs assigned to each role and the ability to approximate the mannerisms and look of the characters from “Friends” will be the deciding factors in casting.
