Best of the Savannah Cabaret 2025 Casting Submission

WELCOME AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!

The Best of the Savannah Cabaret 2025 will be staged Friday, March 7 at 7pm and Saturday, March 8 at 3pm.  Should ticket sales warrant, we will add a third show on Sunday, March 9 at 3pm.  Here’s how this will work:

  • Everyone will do two songs per show, although they may be different songs (so you could be singing four songs total).
  • The first act will be a repeat performance of a song you have done in a previous show.  This can be any show since we started in 2021 including the Underground series.
  • The second act is the “steal,” where you get to sing a song someone else did.
  • However, there is a big twist!
  • You will not know what songs you will be singing nor when in the show you will be singing them!  That’s up to the audience and a spin of the wheel.
  • Each person who wants to participate will submit their choices for four songs that they have done before in any show and four songs they want to steal on the form at the bottom of this page.
  • In the weeks leading up to the show, we will put your choices up to a vote on social media and/or on the website in each category (repeats and steals) to narrow it down to two songs in each category.
  • During the show, we will have a wheel that we will spin to decide who will be singing next.
  • The top two songs in each category will then go up for an audience vote in the room and you will sing the one they choose.
  • There may be some other surprises hidden on the wheel – you have been warned!

SAMPLE OF HOW THIS WILL WORK

  • Rick submits the following four songs for his repeats:
    • I Came Here for Love
    • That’s Life
    • Dancing on My Own
    • Purple Rain
  • And the following four songs for steals:
    • When a Man Loves a Woman
    • He Vas My Boyfriend
    • September
    • We Found Love
  • The vote happens in the weeks leading up to the show and narrows it down to the following songs:
    • That’s Life (repeat)
    • Purple Rain (repeat)
    • When a Man Loves a Woman (steal)
    • September (steal)
  • When the wheel is spun and lands on Rick, the audience will vote by applause whether they want to hear That’s Life or Purple Rain in Act 1 and When a Man Loves a Woman or September in Act 2.

SAVANNAH CABARET GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • We will always strive to create a positive, friendly, supportive, and fun environment.
    • We are not getting rich, going to Broadway, or winning any awards for these shows so if we can’t have fun, why are we doing it?
  • We adhere to a strict “no assholes” policy.
    • The only drama we want is the one we’re putting on the stage.
  • We will always be on time for rehearsal, meetings, and shows.
    • Being late is not only detrimental to the production, it’s inconsiderate of your fellow cast members and crew who did what they needed to do to be on time.
  • We will always come prepared.
    • The small amount of time we have to rehearse together must be supplemented by your own work on your own time working on your lines, lyrics, songs, and characters.
  • We will pitch in to help wherever it is needed.
    • Everyone does everything including promoting the show since the more butts in seats, the more most cast and crew gets paid.
