Tootsie Casting
WELCOME AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
This spring, the Savannah Cabaret will be staging the Broadway musical version of the classic movie “Tootsie”.
This page contains everything you need to know if you want to be a part of the cast. There is a LOT of information on this page. READ IT!
Please note all cast members must be 21 years of age or older.
This will be a demanding show requiring a lot of time, energy, and talent so we hope you’re up for the challenge!
SAVANNAH CABARET GUIDING PRINCIPLES
- We will always strive to create a positive, friendly, supportive, and fun environment.
- We are not getting rich, going to Broadway, or winning any awards for these shows so if we can’t have fun, why are we doing it?
- We adhere to a strict “no assholes” policy.
- The only drama we want is the one we’re putting on the stage.
- We will always be on time for rehearsal, meetings, and shows.
- Being late is not only detrimental to the production, it’s inconsiderate of your fellow cast members and crew who did what they needed to do to be on time.
- We will always come prepared.
- The small amount of time we have to rehearse together must be supplemented by your own work on your own time working on your lines, lyrics, songs, and characters.
- We will pitch in to help wherever it is needed.
- Everyone does everything including promoting the show since the more butts in seats, the more most cast and crew gets paid.
SCRIPT
The full script is here. Please note that there may be some differences between this and the final production script, which we have not received yet.

MICHAEL DORSEY / DOROTHY MICHAELS | Male, Late 20s – Early 40s
Michael is an actor’s actor. A focused perfectionist, outspoken, stubborn, abrasive, and frustrated at where his career hasn’t taken him. SHOW BONUS STRUCTURE
All cast members are eligible for being included in the show bonus pool.
IF the show makes a profit, all net profits from tickets sales only will be divided equally amongst the cast and crew participants in the pool (estimated to be 20 people).
For illustrative purposes only:
- Gross Profits: $42,000
- Expenses: $34,000
- Net Profits: $8,000
- 50% of Net: $4,000
- 50% of Net Divided by 20 participants: $200 each
Total compensation is therefore dependent on ticket sales, but paid cast and crew members will receive their base pay even if the show loses money.
